Theme of the Month: Responsibility

Dear SIS Families and Community,

What an incredible month we've had at SIS! October was packed with meaningful activities that helped our students explore the theme of Responsibility: being dependable, making good choices, and taking ownership of our actions. From completing assignments on time to helping out at home and school, our students have shown tremendous growth in understanding how responsibility helps us succeed in all areas of life.

October's SEL Theme: Responsibility in Action

This month, our students learned that responsibility isn't just about following rules - it's about making thoughtful decisions that positively impact ourselves and our community. Whether it was participating in our special events or demonstrating leadership in the classroom, our students embraced every opportunity to show what it means to be responsible citizens.

Red Ribbon Week: "Life is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free"

From October 27-31, our Guidance Department organized an amazing Red Ribbon Week that combined fun with important life lessons. Each day brought a new theme that had our entire school community participating:

- Monday: Sweats Day
- Tuesday: Sports Day
- Wednesday: Pink/Red Day
- Thursday: Twin, Trio, or Group Day
- Friday: Costume Day (Halloween)

Our school resource officers, Officer Kyle and Officer Tiffany, visited classrooms to discuss responsible decision-making, while students enjoyed healthy choice activities like Zumba and yoga during gym periods. These activities perfectly demonstrated how taking care of our bodies and minds is a fundamental part of being responsible.

Unity Day: Standing Together Against Bullying

October 22nd marked our Unity Day celebration, where our school was painted in beautiful orange to symbolize our commitment to bullying prevention, kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Our guidance counselors led engaging classroom activities focused on togetherness and creating a supportive school environment where every student feels valued and safe.

SIS Fall Fest: A Celebration of Community

Our first annual SIS Fall Fest on October 31st was the perfect way to wrap up Red Ribbon Week! From 12:30-2:30 PM, students rotated through four exciting activity areas:

- Playground: Mrs. Minter, Mrs. Guerrero and the National Junior Honor Society hosted outdoor games and activities
- Gym: Games with Mr. Bentsen
- Library: Trivia fun with Mr. McCarthy
- Cafeteria: Fall dance with DJ Mr. Sisco and delicious snacks

This event showcased our students' ability to work together, follow directions, and participate responsibly in community activities.

Multicultural Night: Celebrating Our Diversity

Our PTO's Multicultural Night was a tremendous success, bringing together families for food, dancing, performances, and unity. Thank you to our wonderful PTO for organizing such an amazing event!
One highlight was unveiling our multicultural tree in the cafeteria, where each student's leaf represents their unique cultural background. Sp
